Zac Arnold on Drums
We are very pleased to have Zac Arnold join us this year for our Christmas performance. Zac comes to us highly recommended as a drummer with eight years of experience in jazz, rock and contemporary styles. We’re happy for his contribution and we all wish him the very best in his continuing studies at the University of Victoria. Thank you so much, Zac!
HUGE thank you to St. Andrew’s Regional High School –
for generously providing us with a perfect rehearsal space every
Thursday night.

Ryys is an 18-year-old recent graduate of St. Andrew’s Regional High School. Since he can remember, he has always loved to sing: at a young age, he recognized music’s ability to foster empathy and learned to use this as a means to engage with his friends, family and greater community. His first involvement with a structured ensemble was with the Greater Victoria Children’s Choir, and from there dove into as many musical extracurriculars as possible, including musical theatre, school choir, and vocal lessons with Heather McLeod. At the beginning of high school, Rhys had the privilege of studying voice under the guidance of Anna Van Der Hooft, and later under the tutelage of Jan Van Der Hooft. With his developing commitment to and passion for voice, he participated in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival in both classical and musical theatre classes over a period of three years. Rhys’ love of music pushed him to partake in his school’s Fine Arts programs, where he played the Alto Saxophone in jazz band, sang tenor in choir, and took on leading roles in school musicals. This year, he was invited to sing in the BC Honours Choir, and was selected to perform a solo. In the fall, Rhys will be pursuing an engineering degree at the University of Victoria. While going to school, he plans to continue his journey in music, and hopes to positively impact others. He is eternally grateful for all the opportunities awarded to him, and the support from his peers, family and community.
Thank you so very much to Paul Haight, the handsome ticket dude at the front of the house. He's our assistant photographer and chief volunteer of all things! He's always busy setting up and taking it all down and he's working on the sound board now too!
Thank you to Rebekah Haight, Paul and Lydia's daughter - also a former Avalon Singer!
And, Thank you, Lydia!
Many thanks to Jamal Adel who has become an honourary Avalon! He's one of our new sound dudes now and helps with set up and stuff (...so far). And yes, in case you are wondering, he is dating an Avalon Singer!
